Sports Premium

The DfE’s Vision for the Primary PE and Sport Premium is that “all pupils will leave primary school physically literate, and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy, active lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport”.

PE and Sport Premium Funding is therefore designed to support the development of existing PE and sport provision, as well as developing sustainable improvements that will benefit pupils joining the school in future years.

Burhill Primary School is growing and providing all pupils with a high quality PE curriculum, promoting involvement in sport (both in and out of school) and engagement in competitive sport with other schools. We are members of the active Elmbridge and Runnymede Primary Schools Sports Association, and our children have opportunities to take part in competitions and tournaments in a range of sports including football, rugby, athletics, cross-country, hockey and netball, as well as multisports activities in EYFS and KS1. Children benefit from being taught by experienced staff who are passionate about PE and give generously of their time to support children’s participation in sport out of school, both in competitions and extra-curricular activities.

The link below outlines the actvities taken in 2018-2019 to develop PE and sport throughout the school, as well as summarising the impact of these initiatives.  Costs, where shown, are specifically linked to the use of Sport Premium funding rather than reflecting all expenditure on activities involving school sport, as these are covered within the main school budget.
