End Of Key Stage Two Assessments

Children complete statutory assessments in year 6 at the end of Key Stage Two. The assessments involve multiple test papers for reading, mathematics and grammar, punctuation and spelling. Teacher assessments are made for writing based upon a framework of writing standards. A combined score of EXS+ means a child achieved at least the expected standard in both reading and mathematics and was assessed as at least expected standard in the writing teacher assessment. A combined score of GDS means a child achieved a higher level in both reading and mathematics and was assessed as greater depth standard in the writing teaching assessment. Some children will not have completed all papers due to absence during the test period. Below is a summary of the data for the children that completed the papers and have teacher assessments for writing.

Due to the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, there are no published progress scores for 2025. The last published progress scores are for 2023. Progress scores are calculated to show the amount of progress made between the two key assessment points, at the end of Key Stage 1 and the end of Key Stage 2. They are used to compare the progress of children with the same starting point across the country. A progress score of 0 would show average progress, positive progress scores show above national average progress and negative progress scores show less than the national average progress.
