Vision for Inclusion  

At Burhill Primary School, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported to thrive. Inclusion is not a strategy—it’s a shared responsibility.

Burhill Primary School Inclusion Vision 

At Burhill Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child has the right to feel safe, valued, respected and fully included in our school community. We are committed to creating a nurturing and ambitious environment where all pupils, regardless of their background, abilities, learning needs, culture, language, faith or personal circumstances, can thrive both academically and personally. 

We recognise that every child is unique and that children learn in different ways. We therefore strive to provide an inclusive, high-quality education that enables all pupils to access a broad, balanced and enriching curriculum. Through adaptive teaching, early identification of need, targeted support and high expectations for all, we work to remove barriers to learning, achievement and participation. We believe that inclusion is not about helping children fit into school; it is about ensuring that our school adapts and responds to the needs of every child. 

Our vision is built on the principles of belonging, equity, aspiration and achievement. We are determined that all pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), disadvantaged pupils and those who may face additional challenges, are given every opportunity to succeed. We foster a culture where differences are celebrated, diversity is valued and every child is encouraged to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a positive sense of self. 

Strong partnerships with families are central to our inclusive approach. We work closely with parents, carers, external agencies and, most importantly, our pupils themselves to understand individual strengths, needs and aspirations. By listening, collaborating and maintaining open communication, we ensure that children receive the support and opportunities they need to flourish. 

Inclusion is the responsibility of every member of our school community. Through our shared commitment to safeguarding, wellbeing, personal development and high-quality teaching, we aim to ensure that every child feels a genuine sense of belonging and knows that they are valued. Together, we are building a school where every pupil is known, supported, challenged and inspired to achieve their full potential, preparing them to be successful learners, confident individuals and active, responsible citizens in modern Britain.
