At Burhill Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that every child, regardless of background, need or circumstance, deserves a high-quality education, strong relationships and the opportunity to thrive. We are committed to ensuring that disadvantage is never a barrier to achievement, participation or future success. Through an unwavering focus on equity, we work proactively to identify and remove barriers to learning, enabling every child to flourish and achieve their full potential. 

Our Inclusion Strategy and Pupil Premium Plan reflect our whole-school commitment to improving outcomes, raising aspirations and ensuring that disadvantaged pupils have access to the same opportunities, experiences and high expectations as their peers. We recognise that every child is unique, and we seek to understand the strengths, needs and circumstances of each individual so that support is responsive, timely and effective. 

Quality First Teaching is the foundation of our approach. We know that consistently high-quality teaching has the greatest impact on pupil achievement, and all staff adopt a Pupil Premium First mindset, carefully considering the needs of disadvantaged pupils when planning learning, adapting teaching, providing feedback and designing provision. Alongside this, we use evidence-informed practice, effective assessment and strong pastoral support to help pupils overcome barriers and succeed both academically and personally. 

We recognise that achievement, attendance, wellbeing and personal development are closely interconnected. Through an ambitious curriculum, enrichment opportunities and targeted support where needed, we strive to ensure that every pupil can participate fully in school life, develop confidence and resilience, and achieve strong outcomes from their individual starting points. We maintain ambitious expectations for all pupils and believe that every child can succeed when provided with the right support, challenge and opportunities.

It means creating a school community where barriers are reduced, strengths are recognised and opportunities are accessible to all. Above all, it means fostering a culture of high expectations, achievement and aspiration, where disadvantaged pupils are supported and challenged to make excellent progress, develop a love of learning and realise their full potential.
